Loud Bang on WOT
I am looking for some help on figuring out what is causing a banging noise when I go to WOT from a standstill or slow roll. It just started and it happens when I smash the accelerator from a dead stop (not necessarily WOT but anything more then 50%) or when I go to WOT at anything rolling under 35. Ive found that if i ease into the gas from a roll and then slowly go to WOT it wont bang. Also if i roll into the throttle and then go WOT before it shifts into 2nd it will bang as the tires chirp. It sounds to me like its just behind the pass seat although it could be centered in the middle. At first I thought lower control arms, but after looking at them and trying to "flex" the bushings they appear to be ok. I also checked the rest of the bushings in the rear of the car and couldn't find anything amiss.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

Re: Loud Bang on WOT
What kind of a "bang" is it? Like a clunk of something hitting something else, or like an explosion type bang? Could it be a "bang" in the exhaust? Like maybe something to do with the catilytic conv?
My little theory based on what youve said so far is maybe a cyl isnt firing, or firing strong enough, so some unburnt gas is going thru the exhaust valve still unburned and igniting when it hits the hot exhaust, causing the "bang" or "popping" sound you hear. Ive actually seen this happen before. Not promising thats the problem, but it may not be a bad idea to check all plugs for good spark.
What have you checked so far?

I'm going to assume you don't mean it's coming from the motor but when you lay into it two things usually happen - the motor torques towards the passenger side and the transmission down shifts.
Start simple. Check the trans mount, motor mounts, torque arm.

Wait.... There is a fluid filled mount? That I have not heard of yet. I was really looking forward to a nice easy fix for once.

I dont know of this applies to automatic transmissions but with the 5 speed when u accelerate look to see if jr shifter is moving up and when u let off the gas if it drops back down and makes the bang.... Little trick to try out

Automatic stick isn't seated directly on the trans so it won't work the same.
