timing/car vibrating/no power

all stock 1989 350 iroc-z with mild cam upgrade
just replaced maf sensor, tps sensor, and distributer

i found TDC and when trying to time the car, i set it at 8* btdc with est unplugged with aldl jumped, it vibrates and has loss of power when driving down the block.

what could be causing this?

Re: timing/car vibrating/no power

Make sure the firing order is correct, 18436572, CW rotation. Factory timing should also be set at 6* BTDC. Is the car throwing any codes?

I just had a similar issue with my 85 T/A. What I thought was my timing actually turned out to be my plug wires. Had 3 completely melted through. As the guy said before me, check the firing order and your plug wires.
