Firebird problem..Help

When I am driving my firebird at 55 and up it starts to act like it Is cutting in and out, Im not sure if it's a misfire of what and also sometime when you start to go up a hill and accelerate it doesn't do anything then you keep the pedal the In the same place it will just act like you just floored it and it is very annoying..I think that would be the spark plugs because the ones that are in the now are crap:/

We also put a new gas tank and fuel pump in and new ignition coil.

Any answers will help, thanks.

You're expecting advice and you can't even be bothered to identify the car?

Could your firebird be a 67 inline 6? A 73 SD455? An 89 TTA? An 02 WS6?

Get serious man.

Sounds like you have a v6 ?? its called a downshift, the trans will do that when the motor is running out of power. It'll kick down to have a greater mechanical advantage to get up the hill.
Also sounds like you have bad/cheap plug wires going bad.

Re: Firebird problem..Help

You running the Air Conditioning? If you have a car that is already struggling, the AC compressor kicking in can make it feel like it's going to die on you... The compressor cycles on an off regularly, and whenever it cycles on, you can feel the car slow down.

I'm speaking from experience on this one, my carburetor needs a serious overhaul, causing the car to be under-powered to begin with... When I kick on the AC, It feels like I'm losing 1/2 my horsepower.

Give it a FULL tune up and then join us in the V6 board for less hassling... V8 guys can be rough.
