Moroso oil pan question. Does this look/sound funny?
I ordered a Moroso oil pan. It came with 18 bolts. The gasket has 18 holes. Yet the oil pan only has 17 holes. I emailed Moroso and they said "That is the way the core is stamped on all of our SBC pans. It is omitted for oil filter clearance. If you want to drill it anyway then you can do that but we have not had any sealing issues because of it."
What does a screw and a screw hole have to do with oil filter clearance? Am I missing something?

I just checked my pan and I have a bolt there. It's been years since I put it on, but I don't remember having to drill the hole. I looked at the pictures on the Moroso web site and that hole isn't drilled on them either. But anyway, that bolt doesn't affect my filter clearance.

That sure is weird. I appreciate you checking though. It's much appreciated.

I'd just drill a hole.....it could very well leak in time.

I was thinking the same thing.
I think I might do that. I was just trying to find out of this is true, or if they're blowing smoke up my ... But as 85Z28383 said, there's no hole there on pictures of there pans on the website.
