V6 v belt setup on a v8?
I went to the junkyard today search of a v8 setup and I came acrossed an 87 gta with v belts and they look just the same as my v6 system on my car now, had anyone actually looked and seen if this would work? I realize I'd need a v8 water pump but everything else looks like it will work.
Re: V6 v belt setup on a v8?
V-belts were standard through the 1987 model year on V-8s, including TPI. I'm not certain I understand the question. Are you asking if the V-belt setup would work for an engine swap? Or are you asking if the V-8 belt setup would work on the 60° V-6?

The only v6 engines that are good donor for belt set ups are the chevy 90* v6s, like the old 229 & 4.3ls. The 60* v6 have different bracket mounting locations, crank bolt pattern is 4 holes, & most likely a more compact set up.
