Let talk about this tbi issue

Ive found a few forums describing the same problem but no solutions. I am not one for playing the parts guessing game. So my 92 rs 305 tbi has a ver sporadic idle 200 to 1800 back and forth untill at op temp. When it is cold and the idle is bouncing around and you try to drive, when i push the peddle 1cm or WOT the car barely moves i just force it it and it accelerates so damn slow i mean like 3k on tach and im barely movin 10mph then all of a sudden it will take off like a bad outta hell. On colder mornings i have to drive for about 20min before it starts running right. This problem started the day after a 200mi rd trip. Since then ive replaced the IAC the o2 sensor the plug wires and plugs. Fuel press checked good so did the Injectors. I cant find any vacuum leaks and ive ran fuel cleaner through it as well. It threw code 44 the day after i replaced o2 sensor but the light was only on for maybe 20 min. So what else should i check and how? Also its been iddling about 2-300 rpm higher than usual in gear and in park. Car has 86,000mi on it all original

Re: Let talk about this tbi issue

Check the tps for smooth voltage increase.
Check cts at different temps w/ an ohm meter.
Check the grounds, esp. the ones on the back of the engine.

Re: Let talk about this tbi issue

Definatly sounds like a sensor to me. Wouldnt suprise me if it was a MAF or IAC sensor

Re: Let talk about this tbi issue

I tested the tps and adjusted it accordingly. After i was done i was running it and finaly got it to act up in park while revving, the driver side injector didnt spray unless WOT. Should i replace the injector ? Or could another issue cause that?

Re: Let talk about this tbi issue

Swap the injectors & see if the problem moves or stays at that side.

Re: Let talk about this tbi issue

Update. I changed the plugs and wires, didn fix anything. I bought a gasket kit at orielys for 25 bucks. I also replaced the driver side injector. I only replaced the top gasket the oring and injector on driver side. I also changed that red thing under that tense *** spring on the bottom of the tbi top. The problem has went away for now.

Re: Let talk about this tbi issue

I'd replace the CTS ( there cheap) and check the ICM. Sounds like a temp sensor to me?

Re: Let talk about this tbi issue

Check the injector spray pattern, should be a fine mist w/ no dripping.

Re: Let talk about this tbi issue

ok upon further reading and investigation i seen that the injector i just replaced was dripping. i took apart the top of the tbi again 1. i forgot the metal ring under the top Oring also i ripped the bottom 1 when putting it together yesterday i replaced the orings again and put the metal ring in, used some oil on the orings started right up no drips problem solved for now : ) next time ill look at the pics in the haynes instead of using it to hold down the box full of gaskets lol
