I own a 1992 rs 305 TBI. I just picked up another camaro. It's a 1990 iroc 305 TPI. It has 103k miles on it. Seems to run fine. But it is very noticably slow than my 92 rs. The previous owner had all new injectors installed. Other than that nothing else has been done. Any help on where to start to find out why I'm not getting the HP would be great.

 

What's noticably slow? Have you run them side by side?

 

Yes I've had them side by side. And the iroc just doesn't feel as peppy as it should be. Feels like slow acceleration.

 

Wonder what injectors the PO installed? Should be 19lb. Also, maybe the timing needs adjusting on the TPI.https://www.thirdgen.org/settingtiming Tune-up with new plugs, cap, rotor, wires if needed, can perk up a car also.

 

Yeah I just pulled a plug its a little white. I don't know about the injectors. Who ever put the in wrote with a sharpie numbers on the top of TPI system. I also can hear a wierd ping or knock, not the sound of a vaule or lifter makes but different.

 

Check the timing. it may be advanced too much and causing knocking and thus making you lose power...

The gears the same?

 

Gears should be the same. If your plug is white, your running lean.
