1989 IROC not running right

Hopefully someone can help. I have a 1989 IROC with the 5.0 TPI eng in it. Here is my problem: The car starts up and idles for a few min. and starts surging, the car acts like the fuel is being cut off. The distributor cap, plugs and wires have been changed. The car has never have a new fuel pump or filter since I've owned it, and I have put over 100,000 miles on it (it has over 200,000 total). Any help would be appreciated.

I have that same problem. Mine does it when it's warm. But, it would still do it whether cold or warm. I have changed all of those things as well. Also I changed the Fuel Filter. It could be the Ignition Control Module and the In Gas Tank Fuel Pump. I will be changing those two things as well. Try and check your MAF System. If this doesn't solve the problem it could be your Fuel Injectors if they are still the original Multec Injectors. If that happens to mine, I will be changing them to the Bosch III injectors which everyone is running. Hope this helps.

i had the exact same problem when i bought my 89 iroc. turned out to be a combo of bad injectors (main problem) cap and rotor, coil, plugs and wires....the basics. definitely take a look at those injectors though.
