WARM ENGINE TROUBLE IDLING AND MAKING A LIGHT PUTTING NOISE
HI, I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 1989 CAMARO RS WITH A V6 2.8 L and it was beat to hell. 3 of the spark plugs were blown, the oil and mass air flow sensor was dirty, would not stay idling while warmed up and had trouble with the brakes. . we changed the spark plugs, wires and oil/oilfilter, cleaned the maf and found a vaccume leak that led from the power assisted brakes to the engine (which we fixed). runs much much better, but hesitates when i accelerate and has a general lack of power and still dies when it gets hot and is idle (starts at a bit over 1000rpm, then slowly drops, finally dying and makes a light putting noise. fairly sure the two problems are not related. we believe the rear brakes might have a problem (causing the noise via back up of pressure maybe as they might be on all the time and the vaccume is now sealed) and are adjusting them today. as for the idling problem, we thi nk it is the maf as the engine code says so and when we unpluged the maf sensor it ran the same. any input?
