Wrong headers.

I got a set of headers off of ebay, and without thinking about clearance issues I picked up these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHROME-Small...80537842266%26

Thinking they would fit onto the 86 chevy 350 block I had in the car.....

Until I got to the motor mount on the drivers side, seems to be catching the edge.

Also, the exits/collectors on the pipes, seem to want to run along the frame...

So now, I have two options I believe, shaving down the motor mount with a grinder, or sending them back and getting these

My question is, if the block huggers run along the frame will it hurt anything?

Re: Wrong headers.

well make sure you have round port heads. Are you trying to cheap out on headers? Headers are one thing that will really mess with your engine. I have installed some real crap ones and they killed more power then stock manifolds. I would stick with hookers. That is what I installed and it as what most everyone here has used with great fitment. also Dons headers if you have the coin.

Re: Wrong headers.

Cut your losses and get rid of the block huggers. Headers have to match the platform as well as the engine. The Summit headers are rebranded Flowtechs. They're meh at best.

Re: Wrong headers.

Well, I bought the block huggers for 83.00, I can return them for 59 bucks, Kinda taking a hit there if I return them.

Not really trying to go "cheap" just hard on money right now.

Here's my issue, I have a 1986 Chevy Custom Deluxe 350 block, in the 1982 Camaro body.

Re: Wrong headers.

Spending more money and effort trying to make them work doesn't make them any less of a waste of a money.

There's no issue, an 86 350 is essentially externally identical to an 82 305 that the car could have come with originally.

Re: Wrong headers.

So just try and sell em, and be done with it? What would you recommend me picking up, around $150 or so is what I've really got to spend at the moment

Re: Wrong headers.

I can understand the desire to put something on the car now, but with headers you're really much better off waiting and saving a little more cash to get something good the first time.
