oil pan
I'm about ready to drop my motor in and when a buddy of mine mentioned that these cars might require a specific oil pan for the make and model. Anyone know anything about that? Or will any sbc oil pan work?

Re: oil pan
Not that I have ever seen. I just get the stock replacement 4 qt pans. I got my last one from Jegs for 40 bucks.
Re: oil pan
I've been looking into this as well. From what I have gleaned 80 - 85 motors are passenger side dipstick, 2 piece rear main seal. 86 on are passenger side dipstick one piece seal. Pre 80s are drivers side dipstick. Some oil pans interfere with the K-member and with the steering linkage on full lock. What I haven't been able to find out is if all 80 - 85 pans fits a third gen.
You need the right pan for the seal, the side the dipstick is on may not matter but I think it can interfere with the exhaust manifolds.
Someone will correct me hopefully.
