just need some info/advice
recently found a 350 that had been bored out .30 over, but the thing is that the heads warped and let coolant in the number seven cylinder. I was told i wound have to get it bored out again but with out pics can someone off the top of their heads tell me if i were need to get it bored back out again? ill add pics later on if needed
Re: just need some info/advice
A hydrolyzed cylinder is as bad as a pc of steel inside the cylinder. If it leaked in faster than it could get out,it would be like that engine internals hitting a brick wall.Stopped dead in it's tracks.Have seen tweaked(twisted) rods, cranks bent, the whole host of possibilities. So beyond the needed boring, the rest needs to be checked and the block needs to be mag'ed to insure it was the heads that was the only problem.
If it is a question of purchase,I suggest you don't.

ok my mistake number five cylinder is the one that had coolant go into it, i felt it it was rough. he said it would need to be honed out or just bored out again. for fifty bucks tho thats seems to be a hell of a deal.. He's also got some L98 corvette alumiun heads for sale, i may just buy the heads if i get told by enough ppl that the block is a no go..

Re: just need some info/advice
would suggest passing on any head this guy could have had bolted to that block...
the crack if that is what it is... is clearly visible and the only reason to even try to sell it is to give someone the screwin'... 50$ is one of the too good to be true even if it didnt have a mystery catastrophic failure

Re: just need some info/advice
so i found a 350 its been rebuilt the guy put new crank pistons and the heads are 462624 casting numbers. doesnt come with the pulleys or flywheel/flexplate, intake either, which is fine with me..he wants four hundred for it so im goin for it. once i get it i wont start workin on it til next month or half, ima gonna save up more money and go to town on it. once i get this engine ima find out what all my options are. i know for sure i want to do a hsr but if not then a holly tbi unit
