Considering selling vette for another third gen

hows it going guys. little background for me, im a die hard chevy fan, when i turned 16 i bought an 84 z28 that was previously in some accidents. spent a few months fixing her up before i got my license. once it was done i decided i wanted a vette and started saving. when i was 18 i sold the camaro and bought my 94 6 speed convert. absolutely loved the car and have spent the past 3 and a half years repairing and upgrading the car. almost a year ago i joined the Marines and the car is now on base with me. well the past few months iv been considering selling the vette and going back to a third gen. the military pay isnt all that great and parts for the vette are expensive. i love the car dearly but i really love working on cars and everytime i wanna do something to the vette my bank account takes a mean hit and i end up getting frustrated because something always goes wrong. reasons for wanting to go to a camaro are, cheaper parts, cheaper in general, no emissions, easier to work on, and id really like to get into drag racing but im afraid to do it in the vette because the first time i break something its gonna kill me paying to fix it. if i sold the vette for say 10k, i could get a camaro for 3-4k and have plenty of money leftover to get started drag racing. besides, i feel the camaro is a better car to race in being as it has the solid axle rather then the irs, plus my suspension has been set up real stiff and id have to change all that to go drag racing. its a real tough decision, so im looking for some opinions. Current car is a white 94 convertible, lt1 6 speed, black leather interior, has about 3k in suspension work, lowered, black zr1 rims 275 front 315 rears, obx long tube headers an straight pipes back, short shifter, an some minor things here an there

Drag racing is another story, if that's the priority, ok then. But other than that...

Are you out of your tree? Most of us in the F body crowd aspire to own a Corvette. A 6 speed LT1 convertible would suit me just fine, thanks.

I certainly don't aspire for a Vette or I would buy one. Thirdgen all the way.

Everytime I have a Vette into the shop, I just appreciate my built 3rd gen that much more.

third. I'd buy another 5.0 Mustang (and I will soon) before I even think about a Corvette. Not my cup of tea.

Re: Considering selling vette for another third gen

I know how it is .I had a 90 vette got rid of that to buy a 2nd gen 1978 y88 car that i got for a steal.I put a few grand into that and sold it off for a nice profit.Ithen took that cash and bought a low mile mint 1994 vette lt1 roadster and took the rest and bought a rust free 1989 ta gta that needed a new intereoir and paint which i am just about readyto paint. So i made one turn into two.Worked out great for me

I'll second that one, the only way I'd ever sell my thirdgen is to buy a vette. I'm in the same boat though with the prices.

Re: Considering selling vette for another third gen

Don't get me wrong, I love the vette an back home it was fun being in vette clubs an vette shows an it was a special car. But now that I'm in the marines an on base it isn't really anything special. I don't get to do much with it, an don't go to shows cause being on base I can't keep it show ready anymore. Well after talking to my dad today, we came up with a plan. I'm gonna park the vette in his garage for a few months an borrow his 84 z28. If I decide I want the vette back I'll just switch back. If I decide I wanna keep the Camaro I'll sell the vette an give my dad 4k for the camaro. So I basically get a free trial period!
