rough idle and vibration

I just started the car for the first time in 2 weeks, and when giving it gas in park and in drive I get a rough vibration and it severely lacks power, it has 1k miles on new engine, no strange noises out codes yet, I did notice a hotspot on a plug wire the was reading against the exh manifold, so I'm assuming that's most of the issue considering when I relocated the wire it arced against the manifold but did not solve the problem, oh and it has minimal to no vibration while holding a constant rpm... I'm not in the mood to replace brand new wires and such if there is likely another cause.

Re: rough idle and vibration

If it arced against the manifold then it's got to be replaced as it burnt the insulation - pull the wires and check them one at a time and you might just need a single wire...

So, your not in the mood to fix your car right? When was the last time the plugs and wires were replaced? You start with the obvious. Check all grounds also.

I deploy Monday and I have a lot of preps to make still . Yes I love working on my car, but it is going to be sitting for several months so I was planning to fix it when I get back, I just got a chance to look at the word and yes atleast 3 are burnt from manifold contact so I'm going for new wires, coil and icm now so that I have no second guesses if for reason it acts up after sitting I can eliminate ignition right away.

Well that would have been some nice information to know. And thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service, Godspeed.

Thanks also for your service.

If you're going to let it sit and fix it when you get back - be sure and fog the engine as the dead cylinders were washing down with unburnt fuel... Also they do sell spark plug wire 'heat sleeves' that will take the heat from the manifolds and not burn the wires... I've used them on a lot of cars where the headers were tight on the plugs (engine swap headers are notoriously bad in some cars...)

New street fire straight boot wires on and new plugs in. problem solved... kinda more discovered a lean issue when looking at the plugs I had in the car. apparently one of the old wires was also assembled wrong causing the wire to have to arc to the connector...and I had one wire grounding and another with a loose connection. drivers better up to 2k then leans out terribly due to untuned tbi setup... tuning upon return:-)

Re: rough idle and vibration

I'm getting codes 13, 32, 43, 44, my biggest concern is 43, low voltage at electronic spark control circuit... any ideas on this one? I think I'm going to swap to 454 injector pod to help the lab issue.
