cam question

recently bought a 350 which is not currently a roller but can and will be. I was told that I could use the came out of my 305 however I don't know if I want to and thought I would come ask someone with experience for suggestions

The cam in your 305? I definatley would not use the cam out of a 305 TBI. That is the smallest cam ever put in a v8 F-body. You can find a used Lt1 cam pretty cheap which is a little better than a stock 350 TPI cam.

Depending on what heads your planning to use it could be worthwhile. Stock heads won't handle that much lift.

I sure they are stock heads but the motor was rebuilt and bored 40 over before, guess I will have to look into that

A quick rundown on cams for stock thirdgen's. Keep the duration below 220/220 and the lift under about .470/.470. Anything bigger and the stock ECM will require reprogramming and any lift bigger than .470 will require different springs.
