Oh and im guesing a 1987 lb9 motor that has a edelbrock performer rpm intake, and holley 600 carb would be somwhere around the same hp and tq as a tpi setup maybe a little less rite?

The answers to all your NON 3rd Gen specific questions can be found on GOOGLE

Look under section 6 ; 305

Ya, i saw the motor list for years, on there and on the camaro tech part of the forum, but that doesnt tell me which one it is, so does that code not say anything other then it's a 1983 305 carb motor? I really want to find out, thanks

This isn't going to format properly but you can still see what it says. Looks to me like all the DDD code engines are LG-4 and never had EFI

DDD 83 305 Pontiac 155 LG-4 700R 4-Brl Firebird, Bonneville

Why would you bother.
Just buy a 350 ; any 350 and have more Hp

Where do you keep getting that code from ?
It has already been explained for you that DDD block you have came from a LG4.
Of course you realize 30 years down the track there may be little of that original 305 engine left, best to check the head /cam numbers before sending everything to the bin

Re: Need motors head serial number decoded

the heads on the l34 motor say 14022601, and I think those came on these motors, so it seems like a stock motor but either way when it comes out i miht venture out and mess with it's internalls but probably has the stock cam still, but it oes seem like it has some power compared to my old 89 s10 that had a 350tpi motor in it with 3.73s in it i would say it feels slower top end wise but seems like maybe THE OLD L34 has aroun 260-270 tq if i had to guess

If you go EFI , then you need a intake to fit Vortec heads,
Wiring required is no different on a Vortec to any other reg 350 ; it will depend what injection you choose to run
