Re: help me please!

It kills me to constantly see people using power braking and spinning the wheels as a litmus test for how well a car runs. Truth is, this does nothing but damage and wear your tires faster. I'm glad you have the extra time and money to waste replacing parts and tires.

Apologies for being a wise ****, but these are facts. Try to enjoy the car not abuse it.

I'm kinda' confused too...

Burnout at a car show I can see. But to diagnose a problem?

WHat's it doing?

Try to peel out without holding the brake and check to see if both rear wheels leave tire marks. If you only see one, your posi probably went out.

Check the timing. Also it could be the carb is the issue since that's the one thing that was touched since the car started feeling different.

The burnout is not the diagnosis, it's the symptom. His car used to be able to do it and now it can't. So now we have a symptom that needs to be diagnosed. Why can't his car spin the tires anymore?
The carb was bad would be diagnosing the problem.

I take it you must not race, because brakes and tires are the first parts to wear out & replace.

Granted I did get 12 years out my Nitto Drag Radials.

However my rear brakes pads still look good and the fronts I replaced 2 seasons ago.

But I have a line lock, so when I do a burnout the rear brakes are not engaged. This keeps the rear pads from wearing out prematurely or damaging the rotors since you are not trying to over-power the rear brakes while doing the burnout.. (and creating excessive heat) the front brakes are engaged just to hold the car still in the water box.

My guess is OPs rear brakes are binding or otherwise damaged. Drum brakes are especially prone to damage from excessive heat.

LMAO you must have back-peddaled real fast vetteoz, doesn't even show an edit. That's not the whole comment I saw in email. It was a little harsh, but the truth. Pretty much my thoughts all along but I was a little more diplomatic and refrained.

The diplomacy is diminishing with old age and younger members of a certain generation with no diagnostic skills.

I am going to start adding this rider I found on another site

"WARNING:

It's hard to hold back when you see it over and over. Afterall, sarcasm is the bodys natural defense against stupidity. I even snapped at him, but I did offer my thoughts on the problem in a pm and a public apology.
We do have to remember a few things.
1) We all started out young and uninformed. I know I blew up a couple engines beating on them in my youth. My punishment by my father was to rebuild them. Lesson learned, and a skillset as well.
2) No matter how smart we think we are, there's always someone who is smarter that can take us down a notch.
