Hello ThirdGen!

If you dont know, I am new to the community, as I have recently purchased my very own 85 Z28 Camaro. I have no clue if this has an appropriate place to be posted, but I'm going to try here first. I have a check engine light, and bought an Actron code scanner, says its for GM 1982- higher. I follow the instructions on how to get the code 12 to blink, but it doesn't blink for nothing. The instructions say to refer to diagnostic circuit check steps, but of course I dont have the service manual... So.. I was wondering if someone here would be kind enough to help me try and figure out what I can do to caress some codes of my new sweetheart. Thanks

Do it the free way and see if
you can get the SES light to flashe

If it does then you have a problem with your scanner ; if it doesn't then you have a problem with wiring / ECM

Re: First Post

Thanks vetteoz,
I did the free way and it did nothing, so I checked the wiring first and found that the fusible connection to be the problem, and now there is no check engine light! Plus the scanner I bought now returns the code 12. The flow charts are awesome too, thanks a bunch. Feeling like joining the form was a good idea already
Oh and just so I'm aware of proper etiquette, this was posted in the right section, right? This is my first forum too!
