What is this? Burnt plug from underside of car (PIC)

This view is looking up from underneath the car on the passenger side. Its located just above my starter plugged into the block. My headers are burning the **** out of this plug, the wire is crispy. I'm thinking this is some temp sensor.
Not sure if this crispy temp plug is causing this issue. My 2nd fan only turns on with a/c. Was driving today and the temp hit 240ish here in AZ rush hour traffic and only the one driver side fan was on. Want to get a 180 thermostat and 200 on 185 off fan switch.

it is for the fan switch, if this is tbi it is the relay controller, If this is tpi it is for the secondary fan if the ac is off.

Do I need to mess with the computer at all or can I just install these?

no need to have the memcal reprograming if you are using the switch to lower the secondary fan turn on. It is much easier to get from the top side of the engine.

Any way to avoid this? Unplug and let it drain completely? Its going to be frustrating enough in the position that its in. If I'm getting drenched in antifreeze as well while I'm trying to get the new one in I'm liable to burst a blood vessel.

Pop the radiator cap off and remove the knock sensor.
