new oil pan

i am going to be needing a new oil pan for my engine build. it is a L98, i know any SBC pan will bolt to it, but i need to find out which ones are third gen friendly and will cooperate with our y-pipes. im not looking for a larger than stock pan, also no aluminums as i plan to lower my car more and would like the added protection of steel.

recommendations are greatly appreciated, part numbers too if you have them

So just use the stock steel pan, a fresh coat of paint does wonders.

i really want something new, i am building a whole new motor, not just rebuilding what i have. i would really prefer to buy another pan.... but that got me thinking, buy some cheapy pan that will bolt onz for storage of the old motor and just reuse the old one for the new motor, cant believe i didnt think of that before

this will prop be the route i go, but suggestions are still appreciated

Re: new oil pan

Moroso makes a steel pan (zinc plated) it has a 6 Qt. capacity.

This is the one I have in my car, and no issue with headers.

Check out their website:

http://www.moroso.com/catalog/catego...?catcode=11002

you want # 20182 ( '86 later block with 1 pc. rear main seal)

otherwise 20180 or 20181 for 2 pc rear main
