auto rear hatch

Can anyone tell me how the two prongs in the hatch that touch the metal plate work and where the wires run..... Or does this have nothing to do with hatch and just provides power to Third brake light ..

Re: auto rear hatch

OK thanks. So my next question would be, what connection makes the motor run in the down position. Thanks again

Re: auto rear hatch

ok so I went out and looked again there is a plastic switched that gets pushed when trunk is closed. my motor not running down when closed so I am assuming the relay is the problem. I will update when done.
