ZZ4 cam or LT4 hot cam??
I'm building a 350 with vortec heads and I'm trying to pick which cam to use. Should I use a ZZ4 or an LT4 hot cam? I'm replacing the springs and rocker arms that go up to .625 lift. Keep in mind that this is my daily driver and I'm keeping it TBI. And it's a 5 speed. Im looking to get anywhere from 330hp-400hp.

Re: ZZ4 cam or LT4 hot cam??
We just put an LT4 hot cam in my sons 87 GTA with a 350 TPI. So far everything is working and running great. For a small lift GM performance cam, this thing has a REALLY nice chop to it !!
Haven't dropped the hammer on it yet as I'm still waiting for the motor to break-in a little more.

I would call Lunati and see if they have any of these left. They have them on their closeout list for $70.00 + shipping. Basically a Hotcam with some small tweaks.

HOT cam, all the way... get the whole kit that comes with the springs, retainers, keepers, and 1.6 Crane rocker arms... had that setup in the vortec headed 355 that was in a Nova i had about 10 years ago, and that car was an absolute beast from off idle to past 7000 rpm. ran high 8's in the 1/8 mile at just under 90 mph and got got 17mpg in daily driving with 3.70 gears and no overdrive..

Re: ZZ4 cam or LT4 hot cam??
Sweet! Can you post a link for the kit for me? I am looking into doing either 383 or 350 but I am not willing to give up my stock TPI look... However I want to stage 5 my complete TPI intake along with my SLP runners. I also want to do Vortec heads and either the Scoggin Dickey intake manifold or the Eddelbrock, which I believe should work with the Vortec heads. I am leaning towards 383 in oreder to keep a respectable amount of torque since I want to keep TPI and all and they are known for making gobs of torque and port work will decrease my torque but increase the HP which should help me out in 1/4 mile times. This is going to be my first engine build so I am a newb to engine building but luckily my father is not new to engine building. He has had his 69 RS since he was 19 so about he has owned his 69 RS for about 33 years now and it is completely hot rodded out. I just am doing my own research so when we do the build I know what exactly to expect and what I am looking for. Thanks for the speedy reply

Re: ZZ4 cam or LT4 hot cam??
Nice! I am going to be 26 in May didn't get my own muscle car (Iroc) until I was 22 I believe. Always had to work on my own cars prior to this but never did any hot rodding of my own prior to owning the 2 irocs I have owned over this period of time. I grew up around Camaros all my life but didn't have much interest in them bc I did not have one of my own. I was too busy blowing all my money on music gear bc I was a self taught musician but anyways I have since given up on the idea of being in a band and picked up a cars as a new hobby to throw all my money away at! Looking forward to building my car up! I have a lot to learn about cars from my father and friends just like u and acces to a lift and a bunch of tools although as I have learned from him already you can never have enough or all the tools you need for everything! Haha!
