Pulling my heads to bring to the shop... anything I should know?
Going to be pulling the heads off the motor I bought so I can take them to the machine shop for some exhaust manifold bolt nub extractions.
Since the motor has roller rockers and things I haven't dealt with before I was wondering if there's anything different I had to do or remember to do with reassembly later?
Or can I just pull the bolts, not touch the rockers, stab the pushrods into a box to keep them in order, and call it a day?
Just don't want to mess anything up!

It's good practice to take them off if you're going to be moving it around and taking them to a shop, etc. You don't want to knock it on something/drop it/etc and cause damage that could have been avoided.
You at least have to loosen them to pull the pushrods out (unless you want them falling out all over the place when you pull the heads.)
Long story short-you have to mess with them anyways, might as well take them out, mark where they went, and reinstall.

Take them off and when redoing install, have to set the preload one by one using the intake closing exhaust opening method. There are tons of online articles by major parts vendors discussing this.
Also good time for a valvejob, new seals and springs if old. Lol

Motor only has a couple hundred hours on it. Hopefully the valves look good!
I'll pull everything and make sure to mark which ones went where. Adjusting it all later will be a learning experience

Rockers dont matter where they go unless they are specific inlet and exhaust valve offset. Most standard sbc are just straight rocker and no offset needed so they are universal for any valve.

Doesn't everything wear together though? Like the roller tip on the valve stem and such? I know it isn't much but thought that stuff mattered.
