So my Trans am is riding a bit rough again after battery disconnect and the ses light is giving me code 12. Not sure. After a while idle is fine and drives fine. 305 tpi

Re: Code 44
Code 12 is just what they call a handshake signal, witch confirms that you are in diagnostic mode, and cold 44 means "lean exhaust" which could bad ecm connections, bad fuel pressure or water in the fuel.

Re: Code 44 and o2 replacement help
So an hour of frustration later lol..
I have a socket set for the oxygen sensor. As well as a huge breaker bar and an adapter for the bar and socket. I cannot get it in there. Every e says it's a ten minute job but I can find guides lol..
The socket is on it. I can't fit the bar and adapter onto it because it hit the sparkplug wire and a steel brake line I believe. It's becoming annoying lol.

Re: Code 44 and o2 replacement help
Well after I finally had it installed still ran tough with code 44 after reset. So I got some maf cleaner and sprayed everything down again. When I sprayed the pcv hose it idled up high. Is there a fault in the pcv hose? And if so how would I go about replacing it

Re: Code 44
lol! I just had the exact same issue.. ran rough after code 44. I believe the reason it runs rough with that code is because the computer sets to "default" air/fuel mixture causing the engine to run rich.
I Replaced the O2 sensor last night and it took me about 3 hours. I used two 4" socket extensions and the o2 sensor socket from O'rileys they rent.. Drove about 25 miles so far and no code and it runs great...
However, when I was replacing the sensor I noticed that the "bad" sensor wire was wrapped around one of my spark plug wires. Does anyone think that may be what killed it?
Good Luck!

Re: Code 44
FINALLY FIXED. After much hair pulling and off and on lean condition I found the issue.
A vacuum hose on the canister to the intake snuck by me. The hose looked way new and too big so I assumed I did it. After an inspection tonight I found it was one piece connected to another peice connected to an even smaller in length but bigger hose through a connection. And that hose on the intake was split and held together with electrical tape. Go figure. I've learned to double check now
