OK, FINALLY got all the parts and am ready to put things together. My concern is that when I calculated CR, it was at 11.5/1.... A bit high. Am I missing something? Here is what I have.

A 0 decked standard sbc 350, .040 felpro head gaskets that match bore diameter, 5.7 inch rods. 3.48 stroke, 64cc profiler heads, and 5 cc flat top speed pro pistons, stock l98 piston height.

My cam is a 268xfi, and it will be installed for normal timing.

Did I miss calculate? Will my quench be sufficient?

Additionally, anyone ran this and know ptv clearance to be ok? I know to check, but I'd like experienced input. The lift is .565/.575.

 

The .040" quench is good.I get 10.25:1 with the info you supplied. 4" bore,.040" quench,5cc piston,3.48 stroke.

 

The PCV valve and its breather inside the valve cover should sit in between the intake rockers of adjacent cylinders. Should not be an issue. Unless the rocker arms you're using are exceptionally wide.

 

I think he was asking about piston to valve clearance.His title does say PCV,but,then he says PTV in his post.

You miscalculated the compression ratio somehow. That's a bit over 10:1, given the specs you provided. Quench height will be perfect (.040 gasket + 0 deck on the pistons = .040" quench distance. Very simple, and right where you want it.)

Valve-to-piston clearance is something you'll need to check upon mock-up to confirm. But given most performance aftermarket pistons have fairly generous valve reliefs, I think you'll be just fine with that cam.

 

Thanks. I have read about very, very similar builds for a fun Street car, and this setup seemed perfect. I'll re check my math and figure out where that extra point or so came from. I haven't heard of anyone running into ptv problems with the relieved flattops yet. Every part was name brand and expensive, even some of the second hand stuff.

Yep. I'm on a mobile, and the stupid thing keeps putting pcv, or pvc when I put in PTV........I just didn't catch it.
