Camaro 85 iroc gear no engaging

Hi I have a camaro 85 iroc fuel injection and I have a problem when driving the car I have to raise the rpm about 3500 rpms for the trans to jump on second gear and same with the second and 3rd it has brand new transmission some one can help me I'm thinking about the shifter cable but is the oxigen sensor can cause the car acting like that ? Or the catalytic converter can cause it if is no good please help thank you

I order a new cable when installing do I have to ajust it or just put it as it is and should be tight enough with out doing any adjustments ? I check mine and I see that is a lil loose but I don't know how slack is suppose to have ??

Is your Camaro TPI or TBI? Did you review the link?

Is TPI fuel injection 305 and may be u know the oxigen sensors can make the car act wierd ??

You are correct on the O2 sensors, they will make your engine do weird things but I highly doubt that a bad or malfunctioning O2 sensor has any thing to do with your "rebuilt Transmission."

The cable must have been messed with when the tranny was worked on/taken out, or something along those lines.

I had a friend with a 85 Monte Carlo SS and his auto trans went out. It would not upshift AT ALL from first gear. He had it rebuilt,set the cable, and motored on.

Ok so pretty sure the cable is bad but today I'm gonna change it and hope fix the problem thank you very much if something comes around I will reply back thank you again for ur time

Don't change it, you need to ADJUST it...otherwise you'll have a new cable and possibly have the same problem.

I didn't look at the links posted, but assume they are "How to adjust the TVC"..links.
