not a thirdgen but please help

Got a 87 caprice classic broughama 5.0l. and I bypassed haetercore, took out stat, replaced a good water pump, used a garden hose to check for flow at every orfice I found, replaced old stretched belts, even flushed the radiator and got some white stuff out of the bottom hose. And trully thought I had the problem figured out. Well the water in the pass. Side radiator tank goes up and down then back up when it git hot it boils and then spews. This is with or w/o cap. Now some background: my aunt 67yo gave the car to a guy to change the headgasket 4 years later and a lawsuit threat she got it back in this condition. Now I'm really trying to help her but I'm running out of the cheap stuff. It seems like the water is going thru the water pump from the lower hose with some force but the force is diminished As soon as it goes into the intake. Take the top big hose off at the radiator fire the car up and out the top hose is dribble dribble dribble. Is it me or does it sound like the head is bad or the gasket is blocking flow? B4 some one says clogged radiator remember no stat, and top hose off then fired up dribble dribble dribble. No gush! The advance auto water pump part no. T3109 has a port on top that does gush when hose is not attached then out of all other orfices uncovered one at a time had flow but dribble dribble. Either the exhaust is pressurizing the block and heads stopping water pump power gush or the water jackets in the heads are almost completely blocked either way it seems like she got taken. What have I missed? Please help I kno its not thrdgen fbody but idk where else to turn. All pipes are just straight flow thru. No stat. New tight belts. New wp. And b4 radiator with top hose off no flow. Top hose on, no flow. When hot it boils. clutch fan roars (it works). New cap nothing. Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: not a thirdgen but please help

Is this wp a "reverse rotation"? I hope I didn't make that mistake

it very well could be the head gasket is on backwards or is the wrong part. it may also be the intake gaskets are switched around backwards blocking the crossover on the front of the intake. that would cause the no flow out the top hose. pop the intake off and check that some drunken monkey hasn't put it all together backwards/upside down

Re: not a thirdgen but please help

just checked advance website and it is the proper wp so I guess no later than next week I will be going in the motor. thx. just found this so I guess I will try it

Any rust buildup and muck will be in the bottom of the block. Like said you will need to remove the freeze plugs. I have reached in the freeze plugs on the side of the engine with a piece of wire and scratched and removed the rust. Take it to the car wash and wash it thru the freeze plug holes and the deck holes. Blow it out with air and build it. If it has the bigger holes in the deck, stand the block up on one end and stick the pressure washer or car wash gun in the holes all the way and wash away.

Re: not a thirdgen but please help

thx fellas, the guy put the intake gaskets on the wrong side in essence facing them the wrong way and ended blocking off the major water ports in the front of the engine (aka) the thermostat ports from each other which in turn started those ports to collecting some not too good gunk from th water not circulating. these are the type of gaskets used:

Re: not a thirdgen but please help

some more pics: as you can see the block off plate that is clearly labeled "rear port" was blocking off the front major thermostat port in the front of the intake so I need just a little advice then I'm going to cover the oil galley, clean as much of the gunk out of the water port as I can, get new gaskets, use just a dab of rtv esp. on the front and rear gasket, give her a full tune up, replace her belts and hoses, flush her radiator and system, and get her some antifreeze and we should be good to go of course this will be after I take my time double and triple check to make sure I don't make the same mistake.

question:

what is the center most port for? some of the gasket sets I have seen for an 87 caprice classic brougham have this port blocked/partially blocked. I want a set that has every water hole in this stock intake open and ready for flowing this is the stock 305v8.

and why do they have the rear port blocked on this gasket set anyway. I checked advance auto and they do list this design as one for this car but why in the world would you block off any coolant port if the car is not for racing?

PS.
I kno this is not a thirdgen but I really need the help for my aunt she goes into surgery for cancer on the 29th and I'm just trying to get this job done right for her. I don't want to get the wrong gaskets. thk u

The center ports you are asking about are egr ports if I remember correctly. Also they block the rear ports to speed up flow and make sure that it flows correctly
