I have a 69 chevelle with a holley stealth ram. I am building a 99 vortec block 5.7 engine. I have a set of promaxx maxx heads (9183) 10.5 compression with flat tops headers and a 411 ecm i have a 700r4 trans with a small stall and 3:55 gears. I need a new cam and injectors i know i will have to tune again also with all that said i want a fun street car dont care about power at 6000 the car will probably live around 1500-3000 ish my thoughts have been a gm 846 cam or lt4 hot cam comp said a xr269 just looking for input.

Re: cam which one?

XR269 sounds a bit conservative, but OK. If you get that, get it as the "502" grind. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-08-502-8 Might want to also consider the "503", the next step up. The 846 (a Crane product actually) isn't too bad. Any of the above will be more to the point than the HOT cam.
