Nope, to be totally honest I'm still figuring out what makes a good cam myself. There's way more knowledgeable folk on here about that than me so here's hoping they chime in.

Some specs on those heads would help to make that decision though.

Re: Need opinions

I would run a RPM air gap, Holley 650 DP carb, comp cams Xtreme 274 cam, a 2,500 RPM stall, 3.42 or 3.73 gears.

Re: Need opinions

Well according to comp cams web page they pulled 369 HP using dart SR heads 9.25 compression an edelbrock performer intake and a 750 vacuum sec carb. I don't know if there full of #@$% or not but you would be running better heads, intake and a carburetor better matched to the set up with probably just a little more compression so if I had to take a guess I would say some were between 375 and 400 HP.

Re: Need opinions

I might even use a larger carb too depending on what gears you go with and if you plan on gutting the car or not. If your car is light and your running the 3.73 gears with a loose stall you might get a little more top end power form a 750 CFM carb. They rate carbs based on a 1.5" vacuum which your car should never pull at full throttle and if you run lower gears and have a light car its best to over size the carb just a little.

If you don't gut the car or lighten it much and run taller gears use the 670 carb.

Honestly I would say that if you don't like to tinker with things you shouldn't own a carb'd car at all, haha.

To the OP-> the brand war on carburetors is an endless one. Just do your research (on more than just this forum, go to the manufacturers, magazines, etc) and make your decision.

Re: Need opinions

It's pretty much gutted except carpet and seats and dash like center console is redone in aluminum not ac or heater box no radio so I'll probally go with the 3.73 gears I have posi for it it was a v6 car I have swapped it and have b&m shift kit in it already to no my bottom end is pretty much stock can it handle a small spray or is that pushing it

Re: Need opinions

I have never sprayed a car so could not tell ya. I would like to think it would handle a 100 HP shot just fine. Me, family and friends through out the years have built 6,500 RPM motors suing stock rods, crank and pistons in old 350's and they hold together just fine so if you not pushing the motor to the max a small shot of NOS should be just fine as long as you have the motor set up for it properly. I do think it will shorten the life of the motor quiet a bit. Have had friends use it and it seams to kill piston rings after a while. Being gutted with low gears and small stall converter I would use a 750 carb. A 650 would be a safe choice but I think a 750 would make more power.

NO2 is big fun. BUT using it on your DD isn't such a great plan, if youre not careful it will grenade it .and youll have to start all over

Re: Need opinions

^ Ya probably not something I would use on a motor l loved. If you have a lot of time and money in to it or it would be hard to replace if you blow it up I would skip on the idea.
