lifter problem with big cam?!?

I posted this in the v6 section and could not get any help...

Ok well I just finished up my 3.4 swap but I cant seem to get*the valve chatter under control....Maybe they are collapsing?*

Specs on what im running
280 delta grind
1.6 rocker
.500 lift
with a 305 open pressure (no bind)
I have a set of "blue racer "lifters in it with a 1/3-1/2 turn preload(was 1/4 to start)
and I do have a high volume melling pump in it also

Thanks for the help guys most of the time I can get the engine stuff down but this has me stumped

Re: lifter problem with big cam?!?

Why so much lift in a V6 ?

I once put a high lift cam in a 1966 Pontiac 389, I also had lifter chatter/collapsing issues. I came to the conclusion that the high lift was reducing the time the lifter chamfer was staying in the oil supply port area, this was reducing the proper amount of oil to the lifter. The fix was a lower lift cam.....

Re: lifter problem with big cam?!?

Being the whole cam setup was only 110 and the engine is being geared toward a race engine...
