Wiring harness question

I wasn't sure where the best place to put this was..

I've got an 88 sc, originally a v6 car, but has has a carb'd sbc for years. The car caught fire a while back and ruined the harness from the firewall forward. I'm currently tearing the car down for rust repair, paint, and to get it running again. I need to know what all year engine harness (from firewall forward) will plug into my chassis harness.

I had a harness from a tpi car, but it would no plug in at the firewall, so I'm sure I'll have to use the 2.8 harness. Are there any differences in the years?

I'm also considering going aftermarket with the whole harness, but painless is expensive. I found E-Z Wiring makes a cheaper harness, but it doesn't come with the engine harness from what I could tell.

Re: Wiring harness question

If ur car is an 88 u can prob get a tbi or mpfi harness and use that as a donor if ur keeping the carb set up u mostly need alt, temp sender wire, grounds, dist harness for either external coil or in cap, oil pressure harness down by the oil filter wont need o2 if ur using ac u just plug that into the tbi or mpfi harness all the grounds that gon to the back of the head knock sensor if ur using external coil and distributor i know there is prob a few im missing but thats most ull need

Re: Wiring harness question

Look up the member "Pocket" here on the site. he can build a new harness from scratch. Not sure on his prices though.
