Oil Pan Suggestions
Would like to get a few opinions on oil pans, and pickups for a Friday Night Bracket Car....Do not have any at all right now, and can go Junk Yard, or Aftermarket..I dont mind paying a bit for a little added safety margin...Car is an 89 RS, 350 CI 6200 max.....I ran a Moroso 7qt on my BB Chrysler with a larger pickup and Windage tray never had oiling problems...Thanks...

Will you be very hard on the brakes (limited shutdown area)? If you're running front skinnies, then I don't anticipate this will be an issue to worry about; they will limit the extent that your oil sloshes to the front of the pan

FWIW, I ran a stock pan on my Impala for 6 yrs, pulling 1.4X 60's, wheels up launches, and never had an oil pressure issue. Front skinnies.
I'm not sure if your pan has the same provisions: windage tray + baffle behind the pump to keep oil from crawling the back of the pan on launches.
To eliminate all doubt, run something like this:

Re: Oil Pan Suggestions
86 thanks for the advice...The car does have skinnys on the front, and currently tall (too tall for the gears) drag radials...I do not know what the 60' will be as this is an entirley new motor, plus the car has went on a diet...With the 305, I ran the stock pan with a windage tray in it, and a white spring (iirc) in the pump...That seem really good for a full size Impala, once again thanks....I would rather ask, than regret it later.....Tom

Re: Oil Pan Suggestions
Hey guys, I have a similar question about what oil pans fit in a stock front end '82 Z28. I'm now building a 383 and will be using new Hedman long tube headers. I have a stock pan and a 7qt kicked out pan. (10.5" wide) Will the kicked out pan fit with the long headers and a stock size starter?
Of course after reading 86LG4's post I probably can use the stock pan if the kicked out doesn't fit. Probably going to make about 450/475 HP. Occasional brief heavy breaking, when dumping the guy in the other lane. I don't know if the stock pan has a rear baffle though.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Re: Oil Pan Suggestions
I run hedman long tubes on mine with the summit 7 qt kicked out sump pan. Stock starter will fit as well but I'm running a high torque gear reduction mini starter to save weight and crank over a 10.5:1 compression engine easier

Will a stock oil pan even work on a stroked engine?

Re: Oil Pan Suggestions
No prob man. Your welcome. It really is worth the money to setup a good oil control system. I have seen 20-35 HP gains from good pans, windage screens, etc.
I like to tell people in a simple term... Try to run in the swimming pool or lake. It's really hard to do. The crank has to do that in some degree on stock systems. By getting the oil away from crank and keeping the splash oiling off the crank, the crank now has nothing it has to "run" through as it turns.
