The idle in my 86 camaro was perfect all winter. I have a 305 with the stock 4 barrel carb, and as soon as we started getting some warmer weather, my idle is ridiculously low and depending on the day, it will stall out while waiting at lights but starts right back up. Any insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I have a theory that it's the winter blend gas in the warm weather, but if so what could my options be to solve the problem?

Very strange. Carbureted cars are a weakness of mine, I was trained fuel injection. But low idle. Could be many things. Clogged egr. Pcv valve inoperative. Coolant temp sensor, maybe it thinks it's extremely freezing and its bogging your car down with fuel. These are just possibilitys. You can always adjust you idle screw on your carb A little see is that helps. Maybe it got loosened up a little with vibration. Highly unlikely though. I hope this can guide you in the right direction.Originally Posted by bbernardo94

Check the choke linkages, especially the choke pull off. Cold weather can mask a sticking choke, but once the weather warms, it will become noticeable much more quickly.
