SO.. I just bought a 84 Trans Am and the guy who sold it to me knew nothing about cars. Says it has 70,000 miles but he had no proof.. Anyways i found out that its the WS6 package with 4 wheel disk breaks. Im trying to see if it is also the 5.0 H.O because if it is i will be a very happy camper. I noticed under the center console under the parts number and stuff that it said L69, i looked it up and it says thats the engine im hoping for. Anyone else seen this? Where on the block would i find the stamp to verify?

 

Also, it does have the electric fan for the radiator.

 

Check the vin. The LG4 is an H, the L69 a G.

In all reality , I think $4K is just about perfect , you didn't steal it and you didn't get robbed either . If it's in as good of condition as it looks in the pictures I'd be happy with it just the way it is , no matter which of the two engines it has . One thing to always remember about a 32 year old car is that the options page and the VIN only tell you what it left the factory with , and not what's in it now , Who knows , might even be a well executed 350 swap or the 305 HO could have had a problem and a "regular" 305 put in it's place . Does it go good when you step on it ? And are you happy driving it ? If so , you got your money's worth and hopefully it gives you years of good service

 

Did The Firebirds With The L69 Engine Use The Same Air Cleaner As The L69 Camaro's.

 

IIRC, the Camaro dual snorkel wouldn't fit under the 'Bird hood.

Air cleaner should have a lil donut looking deal on top for air induction on the 83-84 HO Trans Ams
