B&M Megashifter question
B&M Megashifter question
I just got my B&M Megashifter. I know they work with both 3 and 4 speed autos, but they only come with the 3 speed plate. I have an OD trans. How does this work? I know about the pin to make the shifter work but Is the plate just not accurate or do they make another plate for the OD?
Thanks

Mine came with both plates. The OD plate was in a bag of small parts.
Sounds like someone "borrowed" from your box.

It didn't come with another full "plate." It was just another clear plastic piece that had the correct lettering, and you had to dissasemble the part to put the new plastic piece in. (Assuming that by plate you meant the full black piece that covers the console.)
yeah same problem i had when i installed mine... nothing lined up properly, until i realized that it had the 3-speed plate in there
just take a razor or something thin/sharp and pop the one out from the top, and stick the new one in

hey are those a total PITA to install on an TA (mines an 86) i heard there's a lot of surgury you need to do to the console? would it be easier to install a camaro console and go from there? thanks for any info or pics.

It is not really that much harder in a T/A. I just got done and I just lined up the plate that came with it and outlined where the shifter hole was and then used a hand held grinder with a cutting disk to cut the hole. You have to make the hole wider than the outline to account for the shift indicator though, but the outline gives you a place to start from. I also used the stock cable because I bought it used and the cable was broken but that also was a lot easier than I though.

I cant wait to drive mine with it in. It is currently getting a 350 transplant because the lg4 died. I figured while it is just sitting there in the garage I would repair and upgrade some of the other things on the car. It is getting IROC swaybars (not much bigger than the ones already on it, but I guess every little bit helps) new door seals, shifter, corvette servo, and 350. It should have a different personality when I pull it out of the garage. Now if I could just afford a paint job it would be almost perfect.
