've recently started fixing up a 92 camaro rs 5.0 305 tbi that was passed down to me. It had been sitting for 8 years and I threw in a new battery and cranked it. It turned on but did not stay on since the gas was bad. I started putting in some work to hopefully getting it running again and wanted to know if I'm missing anything
-dropped tank replaced tank and fuel pump
-cleaned fuel lines and replaced fuel filter
-cleaned out radiator and hoses
-drained old oil replaced it with new oil
-replaced thermostat and water pump
-took out tbi cleaned it and put new gaskets
Is there anything I'm missing before I try to get it running again ?
You should think about replacing all rubber coolant hoses, that rubber gets hard after that long, last thing you want is for it to blow out while you're driving it down the road. Shouldn't be a problem while you're just trying to get it started, but I'd definitely do it soon.
Other than a basic tune-up once you have it up and running(plugs, wires if needed, and cap and rotor), I think you should be good. Have you checked your accessory belt? Same deal as the hoses, they get brittle sitting that long. If it's not cracked I wouldn't worry too much about replacing it, but I believe they make some kind of belt conditioner or something, maybe look into getting that. Also may want to look at the trans fluid, if it looks clean I wouldn't worry, but if its dirty you may want a flush depending on your mileage. do research on that one, I've never personally had problems flushing a trans, but I've heard some horror stories about getting a flush on a high mileage transmission and it wont even go into gear afterwards. Looks like your in pretty good shape though! Good luck with it man.
Aw that's not bad, body looks straight, get some paint on her and good to go! All these cars lose their clear coat, gm really skimped on the quality paint with these.
