Will acetone and/or lacquer thinner ruin a toyota v6 engine?
Will acetone and/or lacquer thinner ruin a toyota v6 engine?
Someone put shredded plastic in my gas tank. Injectors are clogged. Can I burn acetone or lacquer thinner thru throttle body or steel gas tank by adding to fuel to clean the injectors running the engine? Will it ruin anything? Thankx to all.

What is with these influx of new 'users' posting about cars that are unrelated?
Are the bots getting that good?

It's a new "feature" of the forum software. Non-registered members that view any thread on here, get a pop up box asking if they have any questions. If they follow the prompts from the pop up, it starts a new thread. Pretty damn annoying, but it generates clicks, and new members, which sells advertising.

Although tiresome & annoying some of them can be quite comical.

no, but buying asian cars which do not employ our designers, engineers, and tool & die makers do help to undermine our economy.

First , as the other gents have said , your on the wrong forum , this forum is exclusively for 1982 to 1992 Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird cars only .
Second , "someone" put shredded plastic in there ? Sounds to me like you've got one hell of an enemy and I'd seriously consider some kind of security system for whatever car you end up with after this , because ;
NO amount of any solvent is gonna "fix" that from within ! The gas in your tank melted the plastic and turned it into a liquid glue . The normal action of the fuel system then carried that glue from the fuel tank , through the fuel pump , fuel filter , fuel lines , injector rail with likely involvement of a fuel pressure regulator and it has now all very likely solidified into a mess that only the replacement of the entire fuel system from gas cap to and including the injectors is gonna cure . At present going "shop rates" and with the astronomical cost of Toymotor parts you'll be a couple or few thousand dollars when all is said and done .
Like I said , it's time for a replacement car , with an actual decent (read = pricey) alarm system and buying a Gun may not be a bad idea either ..... Re: Will acetone and/or lacquer thinner ruin a toyota v6 engine?
PS , if ya buy a GM third gen F body to replace the Toymotor , THEN you can come here and ask all the questions ya want to ! Trending Topics

the best thing to do is soak a rag in laquer thinner, shove it in the gas fill, then light it on fire. works for 4 and 6 cylinder rice krap. put some popcorn in the exhaust and it will pop for you as an added bonus!

Realistically, in today's market, the Toyota is just as "american" as a Chevy or Ford.
I get it - it's a symbol of our loss of industrial and manufacturing jobs. But make no mistake - Toyota's are made in California these days.
From the standpoint of job - the days of automotive assembly plants having 20,000 workers are over. They were over decades ago. Even if you bring back the plants - they have 1/10 or 1/20 the number of workers now. It's all done by robots.
And really - do we want that? My 86 Trans Am fit and finish is AWEFUL. I don't love it any less but it is what it is. Built by "skilled" American workers - and it shows. Fortunately no one in 86 screwed up the engine assembly apparently. That peice of heavy duty, inefficient, American iron is still burning TONS of fuel oil and I LOVE IT.
It wasn't the Jap Scrap that screwed us. It was our corporate masters. Yeah the ones that own GM and Ford.
