The saying goes you never truly understand your car until you take a road trip in it well i took a road trip in my camaro and I found some interesting things let's get started. Okay the day before the trip I asked my work if i could use the pit they use to change oil for cars they say sure I get under there big oil leak found out not the filter not the pan but the oil pressure sending unit either not tight enough or the little sealant is gone because it works fine.
Next was the day of the trip I first try to start my car takes forever but it started on the first turn of the key has be doing that for a while now which is good, but lately it usually takes two or three turns so I believe it's the fuel filter and not the pump, after I get out of my driveway it start jerking forward and I have about 40 to 50% throttle so I do thing something is just clogged. The following day on my way back home driving on the freeway going 80 90 start losing power a little bit bit not much i would probably get to 60 then it would fix itself and my service engine light comes on a few minutes later then goes away don't know why just thought I should bring that up. Last part and my car has done this before in a mall parking lot a couple of months ago what i remember is that I met my girlfriend at the mall I started up revved for like a second then my car ways shaking real bad real choppy idle and low rpms, the way back home we stopped to get food leaving the restaurant I think I started up too quick idle was real low real choppy idle stalled on me a few times trying to back out had to sit there for a minute with it off starter backup everything was fine sounded like normal I don't know what that could be.

 

From what you describe, it very well could be fuel related. Keeping things simple, start with the easiest items on the trouble-shooting tree. A new fuel filter doesn't cost much and is an easy install. At least it is on an LG4 with a Quadrajet. If you still have the problem after that, it is time to look at other possibilities. If fuel related, is the pump starting to fail. If it is electrical, then you may want to look into a shop manual. But before you go down that rabbit hole, start with that fuel filter and see what happens.

Depends on what’s cheaper it would be good to monitor fp under a load.
Btw it’s an -4 to usually 1/8 not depending on the gauge.

 

I duct taped an autozone fuel pressure checker to my windshield and drove around in order to rule out an issue I was having, worked well.

 

Yeah, I did that too. ...but now I have it in the car
