I have done some searched and I only can find most of the information is from a 3rd gen gas tank fuel pump hole cut access. I cannot find any information where I can cut a hole to access the 4th gen fuel pump. I thought I saw some information on here before showing the measurements where the hole should be cut at.
I would appreciate if anyone have any information showing where the 4th gen hole measurements showing where it should be cut at.
Absolutely no need for a access hole with a plastic 4th gen tank. The tank drops in 5-10 min with the two straps. Thats why its worth while to swap one in if you ever need to do fuel pump swaps, whch generally is not gonna be offen lol a walbro will typically outlast the car

Thanks, I am aware of that the 4th gen tank is easy to drop out, but going through taking the tank out a number of times in the past. It just too much and dont have the time or space. I am just trying to get some ideas what I should do if I should cut the hole or going through dropping the tank again.
You didn’t say what year, and it varys, certain years are twds the front while others to the rear. Be more specific. My 2000 is twds the rear, I cut cause it was quick, and put a 255 in.

My is a 1988, and the plastic tank is from a 1999. Sorry I should have mention it earlier is a "plastic tank".
Still searching to find more information on how to mark up the hole where to be cut at.
This guy did EXACTLY what you're looking to do and the thumbnail for the video pretty much shows you exactly where to cut. Stop asking and just hack the car up already.
I'm gonna chime in for no good reason other than open mind.
I'm all about stock setups and originality. But correcting GM's cost cutting measures shouldn't be an issue. GM would rather put the burden on the consumer to pay for tank drop than pay for an engineered access door.
If done right, an access door in a thirdgen is appropriate in my opinion, and particularly because it can be done on the most accurate appearing restoration without compromise to the restoration. The number of pristine cars on this forum where it would not be appropriate is only a very small percentage of the total cars.
Similarly, there are very few pristine cars on this forum where subframe connectors would not be appropriate. But for most of the cars is something that corrects another GM engineering and cost cutting flaw.

I agree with you in principle, but as a mechanic I am also VERY aware that this is not a unique problem to third gen F bodies. In fact MOST cars don't have an access panel. We just dropped the tank on a Nissan X-Terra, and I've done countless others on GM, Ford, and Chrysler cars, trucks, and vans. Only car maker I know of that has ALWAYS included an access panel is Subaru.
I'm not condoning it - but it IS industry standard. If only they used better pumps and sending units....

This has been my point, most access hole questions I've read here and on Facebook always defend their decision with some form of the "I've replaced too many and don't want to drop the tank anymore" story. Buy a quality part the first time, install it properly, and then you don't have to do it again.
Just dropped my 4th gen tank this weekend. Took less than 10 min lol didnt even lower the rear end just put jackstands under the axle. Tank slides out so easily
