Distributor pickup coil spins ~30 degrees?

Been a long time since I worked on traditional distributor engine. I was doing a "tune-up" on my 16,500-mile Formula and after removing the cap, vacuuming out all the flaky white flotsam and rusty dust, noticed the pickup coil would spin back and forth about 30 degrees. Is this normal? It runs okay, but seems weird to me.

If it is the shield over the pickup coil that is normal.

If it is the actual pickup coil, although not sure how you can access it with the shield in place, should never spin. There is a locating tab to prevent that.
