So tired of my engine. ZZ4?

Hi guys.
My block is a mess. I'm so tired of working on the same problems and not finding a way to fix em. I'm seriously thinking about a ZZ4 or something similar. Any suggestions? I have yet to save up the money, so it's gonna be a while. Where can I check prices and specs?
Thanks.

That link takes you to the 330 HP 350 HO Deluxe, not the ZZ4.

The ZZ4 is down the list at http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...id=120&pid=117 .

It's a POS. IT enver made the horsepower I wanted, it's RMS is leaking, it keeps cracking flywheels and now it sounds like something inside is rubbing. I'm just tired of paying for somethind that never made me all that happy to begin with. If anyone out there lives anywhere in Mass. and wants a motor do yourself a favor.... STEAR CLEAR OF RAD MOTORS!!!!
THanks for the info

<==Dumb Question

If you put a ZZ4 in your car, can you keep the TPI?

One could, but my car is carbed already, so no point. They sell blocks made for TPI and they sell some for carbs... the ZZ4 is for carbs.
The grinding under my hood was coming from my water pump by the way. I had that changed and now my alternator is putting out more juice, my engine isn't QUITE so sluggish, but it's still a POS.

I doubt the problem is your block. Power comes from the cam & top end, heavily influenced by induction, ignition and exhaust.

TPI or carb is also not the block. I have a bud here with a ZZ3 (predecessor to the ZZ4, basically the same engine) with a TPI on it - well, TPI-like, none of it is stock except the harness and ECM itself.

The problems with ZZ4 and TPI are: The inherent problems with flow & upper RPMs with the TPI; and EGR function, since the ZZ4 heads don't have the exhaust crossover passage - use a Vette TPI base and plumb exhaust from the header to the intake so the EGR will work. Everything else is mounting (ZZ4 heads have 90 degree bolts, but then so does the Vette base) & tuning.

Just because GM sells the ZZ4 for use with a carb doesn't mean it won't work with a TPI. It will.

That's what I love about this site and board - I learn something new with every read. Thanks five7kid.
Still looking around for a wrecked T/A or Camero to pull parts from... or anything with a strong 350 really. Want to see what I can do price shopping.
