rpm gauge not working
rpm gauge not working
Before starting the rom gauge is pegged out. when i start it it jumps to zerp rpms and then goes back to being pegged out even though it idles fine. dont know if its a sensor or the gauge. also the oil pressure gauge doesnt work a sensor? Its a 91 rs convertible
Re: rpm gauge not working
Im assuming a V8 but they are basically all the same. The tach gets a signal from a white wire from distributor. Fairly basic but sounds like it might be connected incorrectly or the gauge may be faulty. The oil pressure uses a sending unit, this on the V8 cars is just behind and to the left (drivers side). It should show 0 ohms at 0 psi and 90ohms at 60 psi.
You can check your gauge fuse (10A) but that would affect the tach, oil and temp so if your temp is working that probably not the issue but its worth a check.
