3rd gen engine first gen car
Hey folks,
I have a 3rd gen engine (#14093638 from 87-95) in a 67 Camaro and there is not room for the mechanical fuel pump above the cross member. Is there any solution other than electric pumps?

67 Camaro came with a block-mounted pump.
How is it possible that one doesn't fit the same engine in 2019? I would have to see it to believe it.

He might be trying to install one of those large Edelbrock Performer RPM style fuel pumps. You have to reclock the base to get the ports to come out in the right place, but even those can fit. Wrong motor mounts maybe? This pic is a 1st gen Camaro.

Yeah, could be something like that. That would be an issue with the specific pump in question though, not "the block" in general.
A photo of the interference problem would help.

262.5, 265, 267, 302, 305, 327, 350, & 400 blocks all have the pump in the same place. Identical in every way. From 1955 up until they quit machining the block for it, because carbs had been abolished, and it was no longer needed.
As mentioned, a different size pump such as certain aftermarket ones could be the issue. A stock replacement one will drop right in however.

That must be the issue. I ordered a Summit fuel pump that was deeper than the ones I see that are stock replacement. Are all small block fuel pump push rods the same?

As far as fitting, yes. There are other variations, but stock ones are all pretty much the same.
