Ls7 lifters max lift?

So I noticed that the ls7 lifters are not clearanced as much as even the stock lifters... Are you guys running these on higher lift more aggressive lobes?

Re: Ls7 lifters max lift?

I think it's maybe the only lifter you can buy anymore. It's the service part for all the LS engines.

From GM perhaps, I'm just surprised that they are not machined for high lift. I wonder if I might have a prkbpro...

Re: Ls7 lifters max lift?

What do you call high lift?

I think my stroker engine has 0.630 lift with a 1.7 rocker.

Notnot sure, they may very well just be fine I just find it odd that the factory lifters are clearanced on the sides so the lifter body can never touch the cam. When you Google aftermarket high lift lifters the bodies are even more clearance, yet these LS7 lifters are not at all.

it may have nothing to do with the actual lift but rather how steep the ramp is.

I've never actually seen a hydraulic roller lifter that wasn't clearanced, so when I took these out of the box last night to install them I was kind of like what?! So I stopped.

Re: Ls7 lifters max lift?

I ran a .383 lobe on a 1.6 rocker just fine on my gen 1 hyd roller block.

comp magnum high lift lobe. Not stupid aggressive but aint mild

guys run xfi .360-.370’s lobes on them just fine. No clearance issues. Some ls lobes even more aggressive but bigger cam cores

Nevermind this. I didn't realize this was not an LS engine.

don't know that it matters much, unless the base circle is dramatically different.

Guess it will be fine then. Just find it rather odd.

Just type ls7 lifters in google and click shopping.

I agree some might be BS, but I trust vendors like speedway motors.

I think I paid like $125 or something for my set. Said OEM GM and have blue paint on them. Unboxed though.

Anyway. I guess I'll put them in.

Right now I'm trying to find a cam plug locally for the back of the block. wasn't one in my box of freeze plugs. ugh.

On a roller block do they still use 7.2 push rods ?

Re: Ls7 lifters max lift?

Used to be said the pushrod cup sat lower by near .060 when they first came out. Not sure of that now or then, never measured to be sure. But on aftermarket cams i ran them with on aftermarket heads the pushrods were longer than 7.20

3 years ago they were $130 a set. I always pay employee price being a dealership employee with a GM sister store. Dealer cost plus 10% pricing.

I have them in my Vortec 350. Comp Magnum high lift lobes with 1.7 rockers at .578" lift. 155# on the seat and 350# open double springs. Shift at 6,200 with a 6,500 rpm fuel kill. Has seen multiple dyno runs to 6,500. Also saw numerous 6,500 rpm fuel shut-offs dialing in the 4L85E shift points.

My geometry was perfect with aftermarket assault racing heads that were milled .020", have .100" longer valves, comp cam on magnum lobes and and 1.7 rockers with 7.2" comp magnum pushrods.. Maybe I just got lucky. Thats why you ALWAYS check your setup. An adjustable setup pushrod is a very valuable addition to the tool box.
