My 3.1 v6 has suddenly developed a clicking and clacking sound on the passenger side. Sounds like a lifter or something. I thought it was an exhaust leak but it is to pronounced and kinda loud. I checked my plugs and wires and everything is good. At idle I can feel a slight vibration. Could it be a rocker arm that needs tightening ? A wiped cam lobe? Busted lifter? Dam I also thought I heard kinda of a backfire. My oil pressure is still good and no check engine light. It's not there at idle but when I start to rev it gets louder.

 

I'm gonna run it without the pass side valve cover on and see if I can pinpoint the noise.

 

Well now I know what a noisy lifer/valve sounds like and I know what an exhaust leak sounds like and how each of them sound differently. I'm pretty sure it's an exhaust leak. Damn at least I know now how they both sound now.

 

Its hard to tell on the video but it sounds like an exhaust leak to me as well.
