Hazard lights switch
I turned on my hazard lights (emergency flashers if you will) and somehow the switch wont turn them off now. The hazards light switch seems loose and unoperable now, with the hazard lights stuck turned on. Was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what you might have done to fix it.
If all else fails does anyone know which fuse I can pull to force them off? Any ideas what other electronic devices will be disabled if I pull the fuse?
Thanks a bunch

Re: Hazard lights switch
I think the fuse is labelled "STOP/HAZ". Although it might be "TS/HAZ".
If you pull it, the brake lights won't work either. (or TS if it's that) Nothing electronic will be affected, just lights.
To REPAIR it, you'll need to change out the TS/hazard switch. Should be maybe $30. Wouldn't be a bad idea to replace both halves of it, in which case it might be $45 or so.

Re: Hazard lights switch
Do you know what all is involved with replacing the switch? Was just looking in my old Haynes manual but seems to not cover this. Does the steering wheel need to come off or is it simpler?
Also any ideas how I can find a part number? The gm parts catalog that I was looking at doesnt appear to have it.
Thanks

Yes the steering wheel needs to come off.
Yes it is simpler.
To replace it, remove parts that obstruct it, then rotate all hardware fully counterclockwise until parts are released. Installation is the reverse of removal.
For a part #, try the Internet. Autozone, Rockauto, Advance, NAPA, your local AC/Delco store, … they'll all have it. The same one fits any number of cars from the mid 60s through the 90s, as long as (since your car is a Firebird) the brake lights and the turn signals use the same bulb. I'd bet your car and my 74 Caprice convertible use the same part #. Camaro in our cars is different, since those have different bulbs for those functions. (TS are yellow) For that matter, I'd bet even The Google knows some little something that might help. You could at least ask it.
A GM parts catalog for an ANTIQUE car such as yours is nigh about USELESS for buying parts. Quaint and curious, no doubt; useful, not so much. Haynes, even worse... I don't recall ANY Haynes having ANY part #s for ANYTHING. That's just altogether the wrong way to go about it.
C'mon d00d, I know you have a Firebird, but you don't have to erect so many mental barriers to progress. It's still just A CAR. Super simple. There's like A BILLION of em in the world, and ALL SORTS of people manage to keep em going, even in places like Nigeria, Texas, Japan, … even Massachusetts and California. Can't be that hard. If they can do it, you can too.

Re: Hazard lights switch
Turned out it wasnt broken. Yanked it and it popped out and turned off the flashers. Glad I didnt have to remove the steering wheel... something about working near an airbag gives me the heeby jeebies. Cant wait to replace this big old honkin steering wheel with a Grant.
This isnt my primary driver so not very used to it.

Re: Hazard lights switch
Dude it wasn't broken. I had the same situation I was looking for what that button does and I finally found it the hazard light. Once you push the button in you have to turn it clockwise so you can push the button in. Now, to turn it off you just have to pull out the button and turn it counterclockwise and it will shut off. Glad I was patient enough not to take your advice and just yank it

First off it was 2019, and he figured it out already.
Second, push the center button in and pull the outer part to turn them off. No need to turn CW/CCW.
