Vortec intake gasket options

Hi guys
I've been trying to find a good intake manifold gasket for vortec heads that is about .060" thick.
This is for a carb intake BTW
It seems like the thinner ones I see get bad reviews, and the only one that consistently gets good reviews is the Fel - Pro 1255 that's .120" thick.
I've decked my block to yield .040" squish and I'm using some .015" offset dowels as well - but even still, a .120 intake gasket is too thick.
I'm just checking my options for a thinner gasket before I have my intake machined.

Has anyone used a .060" thick Fel-Pro 1206 for a vortec carbed intake, and just relocate the mounting holes to match the vortec intake pattern?
A .060" thick gasket would be the answer if there's one out there that works.

Thanks for sharing

Hello,
If the heads are cut and you don't want to cut the intake manifold, BLP has these. Most Vortec intake gaskets are ~.125" thick.
https://blp.com/cart/index.php?main_pag ... ts_id=1052 These are .031" thick
http://blp.com/cart/index.php?main_page ... ts_id=1053 These are .047" thick
https://blp.com/cart/index.php?main_pag ... ts_id=1054 These are .062" thick
https://blp.com/cart/index.php?main_pag ... ts_id=1055 These are .095" thick
http://blp.com/cart/index.php?main_page ... ts_id=1056 These are .125" thick

Re: Vortec intake gasket options

I just used stock replacement ones from Auto Zone. Never had a problem in 5 years. Used RTV instead of the end gaskets.

My block is decked .020 and I'm using shim head gaskets, cause I wanted .035" squish clearance with rebuilder pistons
The .120" replacement gaskets are too thick

I got the gaskets today
They aren't what their ad claims
They aren't steel core laminated, they're sort of rubberized fiber with silicone beads. I hope they work

It will be a week or maybe 2 before I use them.
I'll try to remember to let you know
The question is, whether they'll withstand the test of time
