Gauge doesn't read full?

Hey, guys. I have an 87 Iroc z 5.7 TPI. When I fill up the tank the gauge reads 3/4, it never gets to full. I switched out the sending unit, pump, and tank and I still have the same issue. I believe I tested the gauge correctly and it checked out. What else could cause this? Thanks.

Re: Gauge doesn't read full?

The needle could be off or the contacts on the back of the gauge to the printed circuit could be corroded. Had it happen to a couple of my cars, I pulled the cluster and cleaned all the contacts from main harness and gauges to printed circuit. It all worked like a champ after.

FSM pages attached. Essentially, it's a process of elimination. If it's not the gauge, it's the sender; provided the wiring isn't hacked.

The instructions call for the use of a resistance box to check the gauge. Most people don't have a resistance box - you should be able to figure out a work around.
