stroking a 305?
stroking a 305?
I read somewhere where it is possible to buy a kit to stroke a 305? I'm just wondering if anybody else had heard of such a thing. If so do you have any prices and where to get one.

Yeah, it's possible, makes a 335ci or somewhere close. I'd check www.summitracing.com or www.jegs.com
goto www.enginekits.com
Hey thanks guys, Theres alot of people out there that do not think its a good idea to stroke a 305 they would rather do a 350 instead? I myself have already done so much to this engine it would not make since to buy a 350, I'll let you know how it goes when i'm done.

If current investment makes it not make sense to go 350, then it surely doesn't make sense to make it a 334.

I'm not looking to make my car a street rod or anything, just something to have fun in, my buddys got a 383 on a engine stand that i can drop in i'm just playing the field to see whats out there. Who knows the 305 stroked might be a damn good engine? I haven't talked to anybody that has done this. ( Has anybody out there done this or know of anybody, some info would help.

The last person I recall saying they had done this said the results were awesome. But, the list of modifications were nearly identical to mine except for the additional stroke.
Well, let me tell you, mine runs awesome. And, I didn't spend the (relatively) big bucks on the stoker kit, machining, and specialty parts a stroker requires. The cost is basically the same (actually a little higher) than doing a 383. For 50 fewer cubes, in cylinders that will have valve shrouding problems (read: power limiting) that the 383 will not.
If you have access to a 383, go for it. A 350 would be cheaper, but both would run circles around a 334.
If you aren't looking for a street rod, a 334 makes absolutely no sense. If you want to maximize the power potential in a numbers-matching collector, then perhaps - but what's the sense in maximizing the power in a collector car?
