Broken magnet on pickup coil, can't find part for my car's year.

My car is a 1988 Formula with the 5.0 305 TBI. I lost spark and ended up tracing it to a dead and disintegrated pickup coil. Unfortunately the little magnet that sits on top of the coil has broken in to multiple pieces also. When I search for the whole assembly including the magnet I can never find anything for my model year. I'll use AutoZone for example, but I'm having the same luck everywhere I look..
For the 1987 model year I have the option to buy the whole assembly including the magnet. (https://www.autozone.com/ignition-tu...15956_0_0_1418)
For the 1988 model year I can only find the plastic pickup coil and not the rest of the housing that I need.(https://www.autozone.com/ignition-tu...987/823910_0_0)

Would I be able to take the magnet out of the part for the '87 distributor and have it fit mine, or would the whole assembly fit? It looks like it has an extra piece sticking off the top that mine doesn't have.Any advice you guys have is appreciated.

Get a new distributor, looks like a cardone one that you can’t get parts for.

Only remedy for a bad pickup coil is a new distributor these days unfortunately.

It'd probably be mildly beneficial to get the terminology right. That would be the reluctor. The pick-up coil is the white plastic bit with the coil of wire around it.

Can you use the magnet out of the Canadian emissions version?

many stock replacement dizzys use different reluctor/pick up assemblies. getting the correct parts to fit yours may be a crap shoot, unless you can order over the counter and visually inspect before paying the $.
